Embrace Your Adventurous Side With Peloton Global And Project Athena

Newport Beach, CA. June, 2015Peloton Global Distribution Services® is busting out their walking shoes and inviting all to embrace their athletic side with the Project Athena Foundation as they prep for their annual Adventure Trek. This year, Peloton will be participating in Project Athena’s San Diego “Cove 2 Harbor Coastal Marathon” on August 21st – 22nd, hiking 26.2 miles down the breathtaking California coastline.

This urban hiking adventure begins at the La Jolla Cove, winding through Mt. Soledad, Pacific Beach, Point Loma, and finally crossing the finish line at the San Diego Harbor. This marathon trek will be accompanied by the very Survivors, or “Athenas,” whose dreams the fundraising dollars will be supporting – as well as an experienced group of endurance athletes and CNN Heroes who have founded the Project Athena Foundation.

Project Athena is a non-profit foundation that encourages women who have endured life-altering medical setbacks to live an adventurous dream and complete a journey of a lifetime. Project Athena provides the means, inspiration, and training to its “Athenas” so they can make the life-affirming transition from Survivor to Athlete.

“Project Athena is all about showing other Survivors the way to the ‘ladders’ and helping them inspire and amaze themselves on that climb back up,” said Project Athena’s Founder, Robyn Benincasa. “Doctors cure the body…Project Athena cures the spirit.”

All participants who join Peloton and Project Athena for this marathon trek will receive two nights of hotel stays (La Jolla and San Diego Harbor), two dinners, one light breakfast, a catered lunch stop, and snacks during the hike; as well as a Project Athena Tech Shirt, Hat, and Swiftwick Hiking Socks with a minimum, tax-deductible donation of $400 to the Project Athena Foundation.

The entry fee can either be submitted as a donation in the form of a registration fee OR a fundraising page can be set up to collect the funds. Simply follow this link: http://www.projectathena.org/cove-to-harbor.php and follow the steps to create a donation page where all fundraising dollars will go.

This event is open to the public, so start spreading the word today. Help an Athena make her dreams a reality while participating in a fun, memorable – and even a little sweaty – adventure.
