What Is A Peloton?

The Peloton is the large main leader group in a road bicycle race or sporting endurance activity. Riders in the group save energy by riding close (drafting or slipstreaming) near other riders. The reduction in drag is dramatic; in the middle of a well-developed group it can be as much as 40%, creating efficiencies, power and strength as a whole.
